Layrisson Named to Super Lawyers Rising Stars List

January 1, 2012 – Louisiana lawyer Parker Layrisson has been selected for inclusion in the 2012 Louisiana Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars” list, naming him one of the top up-and-coming attorneys in the state.

The selections for the list are made by the research team at Super Lawyers, which is a service of the Thomson Reuters legal division. The national rating service identifies lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

Layrisson was named to the “Rising Stars” list, launched in 1998 by Super Lawyers to recognize the top up-and-coming attorneys in the state — those who are 40 years old or younger, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less. Layrisson, 34, has practiced law for nine years.

“It’s an honor to be listed among Louisiana’s most outstanding lawyers. This selection means so much to me because I was nominated by peers and substantiated by independent research,” said Layrisson.

The selection process is multi-phased and includes peer nominations, independent research and peer evaluations. This year, nearly 5,000 peer nominations were submitted in Louisiana, but no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state received the honor.

Lawyers are evaluated for the list on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement: verdicts; settlements and transactions; representative clients; experience; honors and awards; special licenses and certifications; position within law firm; bar and other professional activity; pro bono and community service; scholarly lectures and writings; education and employment background; and other outstanding achievements.

The list of attorneys selected to Louisiana Super Lawyers appears in the January 2012 issue ofLouisiana Super Lawyers magazine, as well as St. Charles Avenue and Louisiana Life magazines. The list also can be found on online at www.superlaywers.com.

Layrisson is the founder of the Parker Layrisson Law Firm, with offices in New Orleans and Ponchatoula. He is an experienced civil and criminal defense attorney whose practice focuses primarily on auto accident injury.  Layrisson is a Tulane University honors graduate and a former No. 1 ranked LSU Law student who served as Editor-in-Chief of the Louisiana Law Review. He has worked as United States Judicial Law Clerk, Louisiana Assistant Attorney General, and Ponchatoula City Prosecutor.

Layrisson is the author of a monthly newspaper column called “Ask an Attorney,” a book chapter entitled “The Art of the DUI Plea Deal,” and a consumer report entitled “DWI Checklist: Top 10 Mistakes to Avoid.”

In 2009, Layrisson received Martindale.com’s highest peer review rating for legal abilities and ethical standards (AV Preeminent).  Later that year, New Orleans Magazine named him to its “Top Lawyers” list.  In 2011, the world’s largest legal directory, Avvo.com, awarded Parker its highest available rating (10.0 Superb).
