Bikes for Kids Louisiana... Honoring Great Local Kids

Help a Kid Ride into Summer!

At Parker Layrisson Injury Attorneys, we give back each summer through Bikes for Kids Louisiana. Our program honors over 50 local children for their kindness, service, and leadership. They receive brand new bikes, helmets, t-shirts, and books.  You can help us celebrate these amazing kids who make a positive impact in our local community.

Nominations Period Opens: May 4, 2026
Giveaways Begin: June 1, 2026

Bikes for Kids Lousiana has concluded for the year. Thanks to everyone who participated!

We Don’t Just Give Bikes. We Celebrate Character.

Every year, families, teachers, pastors, and coaches nominate kids making a difference in our community.

These are kids who:

  • Go out of their way to help others.
  • Show kindness when no one is watching.
  • Lead by example in a school, church, or neighborhood.
  • Make our community better.

From about 100 nominations, we select approximately 50-55 winners.

Each winner receives more than a bike.
  • They receive recognition.
  • One child at a time, we share his or her story.
  • Their good character is publicly honored.
  • And they ride away knowing their community sees them.

Every winner also receives a helmet, t-shirt, and free book. The book is possible thanks to our partnership in literacy with Tangipahoa Parish School Systems.

Careful Selections

Our nonprofit board appoints a committee to review each nomination. The committee selects winners based on the positive traits listed above.

Once we choose the child, our team gets to work matching each winner with the perfect bike, helmet, shirt, and book.

We plan a giveaway event for every winner. We share the child’s story, applaud the good behavior, and the child rides away with a summer they will never forget.

How Bikes for Kids Louisiana Began

Growing up in Ponchatoula, Parker Layrisson spent summer days biking through town with his friends and brothers.

Those rides created memories of friendship, freedom, and fun.

Parker has always had a passion for the small town his family has called home since the 1890s. After founding his law firm in Ponchatoula, Parker wanted to help local children create wholesome memories. He also aimed to recognize kids making a positive difference in our community.

So Parker founded Bikes for Kids Louisiana in 2016 with 5 bikes. The program grew each year and he donated 100% of the bikes until 2022. At the request of friends and neighbors who wanted to help, the program became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity.

After nearly 300 bikes, the program keeps growing. Our mission is clear: To Honor Great Kids in Our Local Community.
